Puţine ieşiri recente ale lui Jacques Delors, tăticul Euro.

În octombrie, susţinea modificarea tratatelor, astfel încât o majoritate calificată să poată decide excluderea unui stat din zona euro, Delors urges giving EU power to eject nations from euro:

„The new treaty should make it possible to kick a country out of the euro zone if a majority of 75 percent are in favour,” Delors told Le Monde.

In septembrie, Delors şi-a anunţat susţinerea pentru emiterea de eurobonduri, propunere a lui Barosso care întâmpină opoziţia Germaniei (şi, mai nou, a Italiei… sau, mă rog, a lui Mario Monti, convocat recent de Merkozy la mini-summitul de la Strasbourg). În septembrie a dat un interviu la Euronews în care deplângea că nu ne simţim pe cât ar trebui de europeni în sufletul nostru.  Delors: We can’t simply blame ‘the naughty Greeks’

Jacques Delors: “All these leaders who are talking, do they care that the Presidency of the European Council is Polish? Do you think the way the Polish presidency is ignored is a good thing?”

Euronews: “You think it’s being ignored?”

Jacques Delors: “Yes, it’s being ignored! And do you think that that is a good sign for Europe? Same thing with this scandal – Finland and Slovakia demanding special guarantees in order to take part in the Greek rescue plan. It’s a scandal! As soon as Finland said that, the European Council ought to have met and said NO, that’s not possible. It’s the spirit is being diluted, the community spirit in a way, the feeling of belonging to a collective enterprise. That has to be deplored. We Europeans, we’re not just Europeans by law, because ‘the EU makes us strong’ – we are Europeans in our hearts, and that’s what’s missing today

Au mai fost doua interviuri in Le Soir si Le Temps in august. Atunci Delors deplângea faptul că acum, spre deosebire de perioada în care el conducea Comisia Europeană, individualismul minează apetitul pentru „aventurile colective”. Ca remediu propunea o viziune geopolitică pentru 2050, un „proiect mobilizator”.

– Scénario du pire: votre appel n’est pas entendu. L’Europe tombe dans le gouffre?

– Je ne peux pas écarter ce risque. Il est réel. On tentera alors de sauver la face en substituant à l’Union actuelle un grand espace de libre-échange. Nous aurons un grand marché – avec des trous! – au lieu d’une grande Europe.

Je sais bien sûr, en disant cela, qu’on me répondra que les circonstances ont changé depuis mon départ. Ce que je reconnais. Ma période à Bruxelles fut plus facile. Il n’y avait pas, comme aujourd’hui, cette montée problématique de l’individualisme qui mine les aventures collectives, ce choc entre le local et le global qui alimente les peurs et les nationalismes étroits, ou cette dictature de l’instantané qui ne tient pas compte du temps politique nécessaire. Il nous faut impérativement, pour éviter le gouffre, garder une vision géopolitique à l’horizon 2050, proposer un projet mobilisateur, et surtout vouloir une Europe forte et solidaire dans le monde.
