So much for „the vast right-wing conspiracy” and „the republican attack-machine”.

Post, New York’s Daily News, Miami Herald, Philadelphia Inquirer, Portland’s The Oregonian, Denver Post, Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Salt Lake Tribune, Kansas City Star, şi Chicago Sun-Times.

The Long Beach (Ca.) Tribune, Salt Lake Tribune, The Naples (Fla.) Daily-News, the New Haven (CT) Register, Times-Reporter din New Philadelphia (Ohio), Las CRuces (NM) Sun-Newsm, Mason City (Iowa) Globe-Gazette şi Yakima Herald-Republic din Washington, printre multe altele.

Politics may play some role in the positive way the scientists surveyed judge the times. More than half of the scientists surveyed (55%) say they are Democrats, compared with 35% of the public. Fully 52% of the scientists call themselves liberals; among the public, just 20% describe themselves as liberals. Many of the scientists surveyed mentioned in their open-ended comments that they were optimistic about the Obama administration’s likely impact on science.

6% se identifica ca republicani, 9 % drept conservatori.

Mi-am adus aminte de alte cateva sondaje interesante.

    Dilbert Survey of Economists

Nationally, most economists are male and registered as either Democrats or Independents. The survey sample reflects that imbalance.

    48% Democrats

    17% Republicans

    27% Independents

    3% Libertarian

    5% Other or not registered

Republicans Outnumbered in Academia, Studies Find

One of the studies, a national survey of more than 1,000 academics, shows that Democratic professors outnumber Republicans by at least seven to one in the humanities and social sciences. That ratio is more than twice as lopsided as it was three decades ago, and it seems quite likely to keep increasing, because the younger faculty members are more consistently Democratic than the ones nearing retirement, said Daniel Klein, an associate professor of economics at Santa Clara University and a co-author of the study.

In a separate study of voter registration records, Professor Klein found a nine-to-one ratio of Democrats to Republicans on the faculties of Berkeley and Stanford. That study, which included professors from the hard sciences, engineering and professional schools as well as the humanities and social sciences, also found the ratio especially lopsided among the younger professors of assistant or associate rank: 183 Democrats versus 6 Republicans.
